Huawei unveils wide foldable pura x max, poised to challenge apple

Huawei has officially entered the wide foldable smartphone arena with the launch of the Pura X Max, a device that could give Apple's rumored iPhone Fold a run for its money.

Pura x max: a book-style foldable

The Pura X Max boasts a novel book-style foldable design, with an internal display sporting a wide aspect ratio of approximately 16:11. This format is distinct from the flip foldable design of Huawei's original Pura X model.

Available in five colors - Phantom Night Black, Zero Degree White, Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, and Vibrant Orange - the Pura X Max will come in four storage configurations, ranging from 12GB/256GB to 16GB/1TB. Pre-orders have already begun in China, with a planned launch date of April 20 alongside the Huawei Pura 90 Pro series.

A competitor to the iphone fold?

By releasing the Pura X Max, Huawei is seemingly positioning itself as a major competitor to Apple's expected foldable iPhone, which is rumored to feature a wider form factor than current models.

Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to launch its Galaxy Z Fold Wide in the summer, further intensifying the competition in the foldable smartphone space.

While the Pura X Max may not see an international release, its launch in China could pave the way for other manufacturers to adopt the wide foldable design.
