Samsung preps july 22 unpacked event: z fold 8 & watch 9 price leaks surface
Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next wave of foldable tech and smartwatches at an event slated for July 22nd, according to a fresh leak from WinFuture. Expect the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Flip 8, Watch 9, and Watch Ultra 2 – a considerable lineup that’s already generating buzz about pricing.
Price hikes on the horizon
If you’ve been eyeing one of these devices, prepare for a potentially steeper investment. WinFuture’s report outlines anticipated pricing in Euros, showing a noticeable uptick compared to last year’s models. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is slated to begin at €1,299 for the 256GB variant – a €100 increase over the Z Flip 7’s $1,486 USD price tag. Moving up to 512GB, the Flip 8 will cost €1,499, a jump of €180 from its predecessor.
Foldable futures
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 itself is predicted to launch at €1,999 for the 256GB model – a €100 rise from the Z Fold 7’s $2,287 USD price. Scaling up to 512GB will set you back €2,199, and the 1TB variant will command a hefty €2,599. The Z Fold 8 Ultra will follow a similar trajectory, with the 256GB version starting at €2,199, a €100 increase over the Z Fold 7. The 512GB Ultra will retail for €2,399, and the 1TB option for €2,799.
Smartwatch updates
The Galaxy Watch 9 is also getting a price adjustment. The 40mm Bluetooth model is expected to debut at €409, a €40 dip from the Galaxy Watch 8’s $468 USD price. The LTE variant will cost €459. For those opting for the 44mm models, the Bluetooth version will be €439, and the LTE model will retail for €489. Finally, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 LTE is anticipated to arrive at €749, a modest €50 increase over the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, which launched in 2024.
Beyond the specs: battery boost
Beyond the price increases, reports suggest the Z Fold 8 will boast a significant battery upgrade – a 5,000 mAh cell, a considerable leap from the Z Fold 7’s 4,400 mAh battery. Furthermore, Samsung is speeding up wired charging to 45W, up from the 25W offered on last year's device. The Z Fold 8 Wide variant will feature a 4,800 mAh battery, while the Z Flip 8 will retain the 4,300 mAh cell of its predecessor. It’s a clear signal that Samsung is prioritizing performance and longevity alongside its new designs.
