Apple has pushed out iOS 26.5 Beta 2, bringing iPhone users a step closer to the release of Siri 2.0, expected with iOS 27.

Apple maps ads are coming, but your privacy is protected

A popup notification first seen in the Maps app after installing the update confirms Apple's plan to show ads based on users' approximate location, current search terms, or what they're viewing on the app.

Interestingly, this requires the iPhone to understand what places a user is looking at during a search, hinting at the Siri 2.0 feature that lets Siri comprehend the context of on-screen content.

The notification assures that advertising information isn't linked to an Apple account for privacy, adding that only the sender and recipient can read RCS end-to-end encrypted messages.
