Apple sued over alleged youtube video scraping for ai

Apple published a research paper late in 2024 describing the Panda-70M dataset, which the plaintiffs say they appear in more than 500 times. They want to represent all creators in a similar situation.

This lawsuit follows a similar pattern seen with Amazon and OpenAI, who also face similar suits over the same dataset.

Apple's involvement in this scandal is particularly awkward given the company's emphasis on privacy. Apple has been struggling to catch up in the AI race, with delayed features, broken promises, and even shareholder lawsuits.
