Digi's low-cost model proves a major draw

The company's extremely simple, affordable tariffs have been a major factor in its success, attracting a large number of price-conscious customers. However, Digi's growth rate has slowed in recent months, with the company adding just 200,000 net mobile subscribers in the first quarter, a 13% decline from the same period last year.

Despite this, Digi continues to outpace its rivals, having captured 26,000 net mobile lines from its competitors in the first three months of the year. The operator's fixed portability also saw a boost, with 62,000 new lines added compared to the 53,000 in the same quarter of 2025.

Meanwhile, Vodafone and Telefónica, the other big winners of the quarter, are facing their own challenges. Vodafone lost a net 94,000 mobile subscribers, more than double the 44,000 it shed in the same period last year. MasMovil, another major player, also had a tough quarter, losing 170,000 mobile lines and 62,000 fixed portability, compared to 150,000 and 53,000 respectively in 2025.
