Google photos introduces playback speed option after top community request

Google Photos, one of Google's most popular apps, has finally added a feature that was long requested by its user community - the ability to adjust video playback speed.

Adjusting video playback speed in google photos

To use the new playback speed option, first ensure you have the latest version of Google Photos installed from the Play Store. Then, open the app, play a video, and tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner. From there, select 'Playback speed' and choose from the available options - 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, or 2x.

Once you've selected your desired speed, the video will play at that pace. However, it's worth noting that the next time you watch the video, it will default back to normal speed (1x).

Additionally, Google has rolled out a new AI Enhance button in Google Photos, which allows users to instantly balance the light and color of their images with a single tap.

When viewing an image, you'll see a 'AI Enhance' button at the bottom-center. Tapping it will have AI algorithms make adjustments to the image's brightness and color in a matter of seconds.

Google emphasizes that the output of this feature will vary depending on the device, but suggests it will sharpen dull photos. However, at the time of writing, the AI Enhance button was not visible on the author's Pixel 10 device.
