Google has rolled out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7, marking the first Pixel Drop ahead of its September release. The update addresses several bugs, including a critical issue with the Pixel's reverse wireless charging feature known as Battery Share.

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7 remedies a glitch that prevented the feature from functioning properly. When activated from the Quick Settings panel, Battery Share would either fail to charge the connected device or repeatedly display the wireless charging animation.

Enabled on compatible Pixel models from the Pixel 6 series to the Pixel 10 line, reverse wireless charging allows users to share their phone's battery with another device by placing the back of their Pixel on a flat surface, effectively turning it into a charging pad.

Aside from the notable Battery Share issue, the update also exterminates two other bugs. The first fixes an empty gap between the battery icon and mobile data icon in Quick Settings when Wi-Fi is disabled. The second resolves a font size controller crash in Quick Settings, preventing users from adjusting text size via the panel.

With this seventh beta release, what users see is largely what they can expect in the final version of Android 17, scheduled for the September Pixel Feature Drop. Additional beta updates may be issued before then.
