Google unveils vibe coding xr for creating custom vr experiences
Google has unveiled Vibe
Coding XR, a revolutionary new framework that lets users create their own personalized VR experiences using natural language prompts.
Vibe coding gets extended reality
The company announced the innovative Technology recently, and while it will showcase Vibe Coding XR in full at the ACM CHI 2026 event in April, users can start experimenting with it now.
So, how does it work? Vibe coding is a practice that utilizes AI models to program apps or software without requiring much, if any, programming knowledge. All you need to do is describe what you want created, and the AI gets to work.
However, it's worth noting that vibe coding also involves a lot of revisions to get everything working perfectly.
Vibe Coding XR is the extension of this Technology specifically for XR applications. You tell the AI to use the XR Blocks framework and make you your very own VR app.
The possibilities presented by Vibe Coding XR are almost limitless. And the best part? You can even use it without a VR headset of your own. Google is allowing you to run your vibe-coded XR apps in a simulated environment on the desktop version of Chrome, though this is mostly intended for quick checks rather than final presentations.
Creating a VR app of some sort is no easy feat, but being able to create an experience of your choosing in a minute or two is just mind-blowing. From Google's trailer, it's clear that the XR apps you can currently make will be quite simple, both visually and conceptually. But give it a year or two, and I wouldn't be surprised if some vibe-coded VR game becomes the next global sensation.
