IOS 27 Beta Leaks Confirm iPhone 18 Lineup
Even though rumors have circulated about the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone launching next month, Apple hasn't officially confirmed any of these devices. However, the latest iOS 27 Beta release has finally included references to all of its upcoming phones.
iOS 27 Beta 5 Solidifies Apple's iPhone Plans
Apple is reportedly working on six new smartphones, and the latest iOS 27 beta 5 for developers, released on Monday, contains hidden code referencing all models. Files related to battery drivers and Battery Intelligence features, discovered by Macworld, listed existing iPhone models alongside these six devices:
- V62 — iPhone Air 2
- V63 — iPhone 18 Pro
- V64 — iPhone 18 Pro Max
- V67 — iPhone 18
- V68 — iPhone Ultra
- V69 — iPhone 18e
While the files only use codenames, the corresponding models have been revealed in earlier leaks, including reports from Apple insider Mark Gurman. This marks the first time any of the iPhone 18 models are explicitly mentioned in iOS 27 code.
Half of the lineup is expected next month, with the foldable device still referred to as “iPhone Ultra” in the code. The iPhone Air sequel is slated for early next year.
The remaining devices, including the base iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air sequel, are expected to launch next spring – a first for Apple, separating the launch of the regular model from the Pro versions.
Rumored Price Hikes May Deter Upgrades
Outside of the iOS 27 code, rumors of a potential $200-$300 price increase for the iPhone 18 Pro models are circulating, causing concern among users. Discussions on Reddit suggest some users may opt to stick with an iPhone 17 Pro, while others are setting price limits and waiting to see if the new model fits their budget.
