Spanish aerospace firm PLD Space is doubling down on its commitment to the future of space exploration, launching its second annual Space Camp Valencia – a fully immersive program designed to ignite the passion of young engineers and scientists.
Valencia to host cutting-edge space training
This isn’t your average summer camp. PLD Space, in partnership with Escuela de Ciencia and utilizing Valencia Innovation Capital’s facilities, is offering five weekly expeditions between June 22nd and July 24th, 2026. These aren't simulations; they're practical exercises mirroring real-world industry standards – and at a surprisingly accessible price of €490.
That price tag includes everything: flight simulations, aircraft piloting exercises, in-water immersion training, transportation, meals, all necessary materials, and comprehensive legal coverage. But the real draw is the access to the AdAstra talent program, with experienced PLD Space engineers mentoring participants directly.
What sets this apart? It’s the direct involvement of engineers – a tangible commitment to fostering the next generation of space pioneers. Teams will be designated ‘Team Captains’, guiding ‘tripulantes’ through workshops and mission simulations, sharing insights into the development of the MIURA rocket family. It's about transmitting the company's culture and fostering problem-solving skills.
PLD Space is also stepping up to provide significant scholarships, ensuring equitable access for young people in vulnerable circumstances. “Investing in young talent is investing in the future of the space sector,” states CEO Raúl Torres. “This year, we’re taking it a step further by directly involving our AdAstra engineers as mentors. It’s the best way to transmit our passion, teach how real industry problems are solved, and demonstrate to young people that they can lead the next era of space exploration from Spain.”
Meanwhile, the European Space Agency (ESA) has finalized the prototype model for Europe’s first reusable spacecraft, a crucial step forward. Logistically, the camp extends its reach through a collaborative housing initiative, accommodating students from across Spain via host families. This edition promises an even more immersive experience with Mission Files – detailed preparation materials designed to simulate astronaut training, blending technical training with elements of adventure.

Participants will engage in two intensive workshops: first, constructing and launching a water rocket, exploring aerodynamics and flight mechanics; second, a virtual Mars mission utilising the LINCE capsule and the MIURA Next launcher.
