Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy S23 FE will receive One UI 9, based on Android 17, as its last major software update. This follows a conversation with a tipster, Tarun Vats, where Samsung stated this policy.

Galaxy S23 Series Reaching End of Updates

The Galaxy S23 series, including the S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra, launched with Android 13 and One UI 5.1. This confirmation marks the first official acknowledgement that these flagship devices are nearing the end of their major update cycle.

Similar Approach to Galaxy S22

Samsung’s approach mirrors that of the Galaxy S22 series, which received Android 16 with One UI 8 but didn’t receive the subsequent One UI 8.5 update, which debuted on the Galaxy S26 despite being based on Android 16.

Expectations for One UI 9.5

Galaxy S23 owners should not anticipate receiving One UI 9.5, the update based on Android 17, expected to launch with the Galaxy S27 early next year. This is due to Google’s shift in releasing Android versions and One UI updates.
