Samsung drops $2,000 foldables, t-mobile offers eye-popping deals
Samsung’s latest foldable lineup – the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 – are arriving with a hefty price tag, but T-Mobile is offering deals that could make these devices surprisingly accessible.
Foldable frenzy: $2,000 starting point
Both the Ultra and standard Z Fold 8 begin at $1,899.99 and $2,099.99 respectively, representing a significant jump from their predecessors. However, T-Mobile is throwing a bone to its subscribers, slashing prices by a staggering $1,900 on both models.
That means you could be looking at a near-$2,000 flagship foldable for just $200 or even free with a trade-in. But it's not just the Fold; T-Mobile is also providing similar discounts on the Z Flip 8, which starts at $1,199.99 and can be snagged for a mere $100 with a new line or eligible trade-in.

T-mobile's countermove
The carrier’s strategy is clear: capitalize on the high cost of these devices and leverage its subscriber base. Trade-in offers are substantial, with the Z Fold 8 Ultra eligible for up to $1,200 off and the Z Flip 8 receiving up to $600 off. Those without a spare phone can still benefit, adding a line to a SuperMobile plan for a potential $900 discount.
These deals are delivered through monthly bill credits, with taxes still applying. And it doesn’t stop there – T-Mobile is also offering 25% off select accessories bundles, including watches and screen protectors, starting July 30th. It’s a concerted effort to solidify its position as the go-to carrier for premium tech.

Beyond the fold
While the price hike is undeniable, T-Mobile’s promotions effectively neutralize the sticker shock, particularly for those already invested in the network. The Z Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8 represent substantial upgrades, boasting redesigned aesthetics and improved functionality. It’s a strategic move to capture a segment of the market increasingly drawn to the convenience and productivity of foldable devices – a market that, despite the premium price, continues to demonstrate significant growth potential.
